Key Spouse Initial Training: This is a mandatory training that provides newly appointed Key Spouses and Key Spouse Mentors with a basic knowledge about available resources and helping agencies. Training topics include Suicide Prevention, Master Resiliency Training, Communication, and Identifying Helping Agencies. Before registering for Key Spouse Initial Training, please make sure you have met with your Unit leadership (Commander and First Sergeant).
Requirements for registration and certification of this program are:
1) Must have an official Appointment letter signed by Unit Commander
2) Must attend upcoming Initial Training course.
Additional training is provided on a monthly basis and is optional, but highly encouraged.
Key Spouse Continuing Education Meetings: This is an additional training workshop held every month for already trained and active Key Spouses/Mentors. Subject matter experts will be leading the conversation on topics such as: Communication, Program Management, Financial Matters, Resiliency, etc. Topics are developed based on the need at the time of the workshop. This is also an opportunity to network with other Key Spouses/Mentors.
Key Spouse Refresher Training: This is a one-on-one meeting with the Key Spouse program manager for those who have served as a key spouse at another installation and have completed the Initial Key Spouse Training. The refresher training is a one hour overview of the Key Spouse program and focuses on local and base resources. Verification of prior volunteer service as a key spouse must be provided.
Key Spouse Mentor Training: This is a one-on-one meeting with the Key Spouse program manager for those who are appointed as a Key Spouse Mentor and have completed the Initial Key Spouse Training. The mentor training is a one hour overview of the role of the Key Spouse Mentor. Verification of Initial Key Spouse Training is required.
Key Spouse Collaborations: This is a monthly virtual meeting via Zoom for Key Spouses, Mentors and Command spouses. This networking, agenda-free meeting provides opportunity to brainstorm, support and share ideas. Meetings occur monthly at 7pm. Virtual meeting access information provided on Scott AFB Key Spouse Facebook page and via e-mail distribution.
